Personality: Raised by her parents with the intention of one day being married off for a good business partnership, Natalie's life first changed at the age of ten. Nearly abducted by flesh peddlers from the Underground, she was fortunate to encounter Levi who became her unwilling rescuer. Since then her goal was to one day find him again and thank him for his kind act.
With her older brother joining the Survey Corps after graduating boot camp, she was inspired to follow a military career and serve humanity against the Titan terror. However, she caved to her mother's pleas and joined the Military Police after boot camp, where she spent the first seven years of service. It was only with constant encouragement from her brother that she eventually requested a transfer to the Survey Corps, where she serves to this day.
Intelligent and skilled, Natalie is wholly dedicated to humanity's survival within the Walls. Her kindness and disregard for class separation allows her to sympathize with those around her. Her downfall comes from her selfless tendencies, her belief that she is expendable and unimportant in the grand scheme of things, resulting in a disregard for her own wellbeing. As Levi often puts it, she is stupidly kind.

Personality: Though at first glance Karl might have seemed reserved - even cold - to those around him, the people who knew him described the man as a welcoming and friendly person. Having graduated at the top of his class, he was regarded by both his superiors and his peers as a once-in-a-generation genius and a brilliant strategist. To his credit, he managed to remain humble and respectful to those around him, which solidified him into a role model for many younger soldiers.
His greatest - some would say his only - weakness was his younger sister, whom he adored with every fiber of his being. It was that love which drove him to convince her to join the Survey Corps, as he couldn't bear to watch her withering away like a caged bird, in the ranks of the Military Police.
Stefan and Andrea Dietrich

Age: 53 / 51 respectively (currently - year 850)
Personality: One of the wealthiest merchants in Wall Sina, Stefan has been brought up to know that one day he would inherit his father's business. At the age of 18 he met and fell in love with Andrea, though it was only four years later that she finally gave in to his courting and accepted his marriage proposal. Known to be a firm-handed yet fair employer, Stefan quickly built up his family business beyond even what his father had accomplished. He is, however, a very stubborn man whose greatest griefs come from his two children and their refusal to obey him.
Andrea is quite his opposite, being a kind and gentle woman - traits that she was happy to discover both her children had inherited. Her intelligence and sharp intuition have helped her immensely in her long marriage with Stefan, aiding her in maintaining harmony within their household. As any mother, however, she was immensely distraught when both Karl and Natalie chose the military path.
Elena Von der Leyen

Personality: The only daughter of the Von der Leyen household, Elena's beauty is only surpassed by her nurturing personality, her intelligence and her ability to weave her way through the webs of intrigue that the noble society presents. Raised with the knowledge that her brother would be the one to inherit the family fortune - despite Elena being the firstborn child - she was groomed her entire life to become a good match for a wealthy male heir of her parents' choice, which would guarantee her an easy life.
At the age of 27 she accompanied her parents on a visit to the Dietrich estate, where she first met the couple's son, Karl. Having thwarted all her parents' attempts to marry her off until then, she tried to spite them by pretending that she had fallen in love with the merchant's son. However, her plans backfired when she found herself gradually gaining sincere feelings for Karl, who had turned out to be a very decent, honorable and hardworking man. Though fully aware that his military career of choice carried the risk of his untimely death, she accepted his marriage proposal in secret, just six months after they had first met.
At both their insistence - Elena even going as far as threatening her parents that she would rather die than marry anyone else - the families at last agreed to their relationship. However, shortly after they were officially engaged, Karl perished during a Survey Corps expedition leaving her heartbroken. More than anything, she regrets not having the chance to tell him that she was pregnant with their son.
Lenz Ackerman

Occupation/Title: Head of Kiyomi Azumabito's personal guard
Personality: "A life lived in Marley is no life at all" according to Lenz, who has lived most of his life having to hide his family name and origins. Part of the Ackerman Clan branch left behind on the Continent when King Fritz retreated to Paradis Island, his grandparents were fortunate enough to encounter a doctor willing to falsify their blood tests, thus passing his family off as Marleyans. Though able to live a relatively peaceful life this way, at the age of 15 he learned about his family's history from his parents and swore to himself that he would never betray his bloodline by accepting that lie any longer. Fleeing from home, his cunning mind was the only aid he had in getting out of Marley territories.
Eventually he reached Hizuru where he met the recently widowed Kiyomi Azumabito, who took pity on him and brought him into her household raising him alongside her daughter. At the age of 20, after much insistence, Kiyomi allowed him to join her personal guard where he serves her to this day. Two years later he married and had a daughter of his own, whom he spoke to about their origins from a very young age, not wanting to repeat his parents' mistake and lie to his child.
On a visit to his parents in Marley, their daughter unwittingly spoke to other children of her Ackerman bloodline and was overheard by Marley Public Security officers. That same night, during a raid on his childhood home, his parents as well as his wife and daughter were murdered. Though wounded, he managed to escape and flee back to Hizuru, where he swore to have his revenge. However loyal to Kiyomi and his purpose of destroying Marley, he retains his conscience and dignity as well as an uncanny sense of discerning people's true intentions.
