Aragorn & Leeya

The main pairing of this story, the two are part of the last remnants of the Dunedain in Middle Earth. Bound by a love both fear to acknowledge aloud, they must each face their own struggles and come to terms with them, before they can have any hope of being together.

Glorfindel

One of the mighty of the Firstborn, Glorfindel is possibly one of the most powerful Elf Lords in Middle Earth. Though his noble presence and aura of strength imposes respect in those around, he is a kind and gentle soul.

After many centuries of life he has finally found a woman worthy of his affections, drawn by Leeya's compassionate and nurturing nature; though Leeya herself has not shown signs of returning his feelings.

Huitaar (Shadow of the King)

Leeya's faithful friend and steed, Huitaar was the gift she received from Aragorn before his departure from Imladris.

A Dunadan stallion, Huitaar is inseparable from his mistress, unless she commands him to stay behind. Intelligent and strong beyond regular horses, he is a fearsome sight to behold when he perceives a danger to Leeya.

Leeya's jewel

Leeya herself doesn't know much about this jewel. Only that on the day of her birth, one of the Istari passing by her home island gifted it to her, claiming it would serve to keep her safe. With Elrond confirming the existence of a strong protective spell upon the jewel, she believes it is the reason she survived the sinking ship which killed her parents on their way to Middle Earth.

After her arrival to Rivendell, she offered it as a gift to Aragorn before his departure, not knowing how much the Ranger still treasures it.

Glorfindel's necklace

A masterpiece of Elven jewelers, Glorfindel intended this gift as a way to reveal his feelings for Leeya. Despite her refusal, he still urged her to accept it, maybe hoping that over time she will have a change of heart.

Salmar

A Maia in service to Ulmo, Salmar is the one who created the Ulumúri, the great conches which produce the music of the sea; it is said that anyone who hears them will never forget their music and will forever long for the sea. He was also the only one at Ulmo’s side when the Valar first entered Arda.

Not much is known of Salmar even to the other Maiar, and his part in this tale has yet to be revealed.

After the crossing of the Ford and arrival in Rivendell with Aragorn and the Halflings, Leeya chose one of her favorite dresses - perhaps in an unintended attempt to cleanse herself of any impurities her confrontation with the Wraiths may have brought upon her.

The attire appears in the chapter "Loving a memory".
